The Stabbing and Burning of Christine Vaadi[edit | edit source]
In 1994 at Tanner's Fireside Inn (later Rusted Route) on Route 3 bartender Christine M. Vaadi, a divorced mother of two, was cleaning up after business hours.
Daniel L. Dumas stabbed her and then set fire to the inn to cover up the crime, horribly burning the injured and still-living bartender. She died from her injuries.
Dumas pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree arson and was sentenced to 20 years to life in state prison.
