Stone Street[edit | edit source]

Looking up Stone Street from Washington c.1970
Stone Street begins on Washington Street and travels west, ending at Exchange Street, near the Arsenal Street bridge. The street was named for Orin Stone, an early Watertown settler. What comprises Stone Street was once a pathway that led to Stone's farm that was located on what is today South Massey Street.

The intersection of Stone and Washington Streets early on proved to be of great importance, as Watertown's first banks were built at this site. This site is still a banking today. Stone Street has long been a mixture of businesses and residences.
