General Sacket House[edit | edit source]
The General Sacket House is a Second Empire style mansion located on James Street in the Village of Cape Vincent. The site also includes the home's original carriage house
The house was built in 1872 by General Delos Bennett Sacket. Born in 1822 in Cape Vincent, General Sacket was a West Point graduate, and served as a cavalryman during the Mexican War and at several battles during the Civil War, including the Battle at Antietam. He later served as an Inspector General under President Ulysses S. Grant until his death in 1885. The mansion today operates as a bed and breakfast.
The General Sacket House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
