Downtown Streetscape Project

From Jefferson County NY Wiki

(pdf File)The Downtown Streetscape Project is a multi-million dollar renovation project that entails structural and aesthetic improvements to Public Square in Watertown. The goal of the project is to improve the square's infrastructure, as well as make it a more attractive site for shoppers and businesses. The project, whose history goes back to 1999, has been hampered from the start by delays in funding and roadblocks in underground construction and utility repairs. The project was completed in November, 2008.

While business owners on Public Square have been concerned about the effect on how the construction would affect their business, it is hoped that, once complete, the work done will create a more inviting atmosphere for people to shop and do business and help reverse the struggling square's fortunes.
