Adams Center

Adams Center is a hamlet located in the Town of Adams in Jefferson County. The hamlet was first settled in 1816 and was called "Adams Five Corners" until about 1828 or so until it was called "Adams Centre" until the 1900's.


In the mid 1800's the railroad system was built through the area, bringing with it prosperity and growth for Adams Center.


Melvil Dewey, who invented the Dewey Decimal System, was from Adams Center.
